Winstar Launches New Circular OLED

Posted by Catherine F on Sep 30, 2016 9:45:03 AM

OLEDs, or Organic Light Emitting Diodes, are an offshoot of existing conventional LED technology. LEDs are semiconducting light sources that function through electroluminescence. OLEDs on the other hand, use use a series of thin, light emitting films. This allows the OLED array to produce brighter light while using less energy than existing LCD/LED technologies. Because these light-emitting films are composed of hydrocarbon chains rather than semiconductors laden with heavy metals like gallium arsenide phosphide, they are considered organic, hence the "O" in their name.

Why source your components from Asia?

Posted by Catherine F on May 19, 2016 10:14:31 AM

There are several reasons companies will source products from Asia. Some are cost-related and others are technology-focused. Sourcing in Asia can substantially reduce your costs. Determining if it’s right for you depends on many factors including materials, labour costs, technology, and lead-times. Whether you are looking for passives, optoelectronics, electromechanical, connectors, timing devices, hardware, discretes/semiconductors or circuit protection, we'll help you determine if Asian sourcing is a sensible, low-cost alternative for your project.

Consider Smocks for your ESD Program

Posted by Catherine F on Apr 29, 2016 3:17:56 PM

Are smocks part of your ESD Control Program? While a person may be grounded using a wrist strap or other grounding methods, that does not mean that insulative clothing fabrics can dissipate a charge to that person’s skin and then to ground. Personnel clothing usually is electrically separate or isolated from the body. Garments that are used to establish the primary ground path for a person shall provide a resistance of less than 35 megohms from the person to the groundable point of the garment.
